Artist Statement

Interested in the dynamic possibilities of digital media, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Entertainment Arts Department at the College for Creative Studies (Detroit, MI) in May 2015. My studies focused on 3D Animation as well as creating multidisciplinary projects that celebrate technology as opportunity; for my Senior Thesis, I worked with students of different disciplines and departments to create an augmented comic book and an interactive touch-table installation—both pieces featured in the CCS 2015 Student Exhibition. At the same time, I was accepted into the Wayne State University Capstone Project, and I led a team of student programmers to take first place in the university’s Design Day Competition. After graduation, I soon established a small business—Optis Creative—with two other CCS alumni, submitting to competitions that sponsor innovative tech solutions. First, we collaborated with Optom, a medical tech-solution company, creating an augmented reality app and mural to help connect people in the office. Then, we were accepted for an incubator program at Tech Town DTX that allowed us to truly understand business to business practices. Most recently, at Quicken Loans we won first place in their Pitch Day competition, developing an augmented reality app that helps people find and explore the space around them. I also have experience working as a Strategy Tech Intern at Global Team Blue (formerly Team Detroit), exploring the implementations of wearable tech, including the HTC Vibe, Oculus and Google Glass. Moreover, I created UI/UX designs for the these platforms, while developing in Unity with C#, JavaScript and HTML. As Project Manager of my intern team, I worked directly with the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House developing a marketing campaign geared towards millennials. Meanwhile, I guided the Graphic Design Department, meeting with all levels of the creative process, in developing augmented reality content for their clients. The opportunities for interactive design are everywhere.
